london tower

London tower

The tower of London is, officially, the palace and fortress of your majesty, the tower of London, though the last leader who resided in her was Jacobo I (1566-1625).
The white tower, the building squaredqith turrets in every corner that gave the name to the set, is nowadays in the center of a complex of diverse buildings next to the river Thames in London. The complex has been used as fortress, armory, store of the exchequer, palace, palace of detention, observatory, refuge and prison, specially for prisoners of “high class”. The latter use turned the phrase “to send to the tower” in synonymous of “entering prison”. The queen Isabel I was prisoner here durning the reign of her sister Maria; the last time that the tower was in use as prison was durning the Second world war for Rudolf Hess.

The Tower of London was declared in 1988 Patrimony of the humanity by the UNESCO, for treating itself about a fortress of the Norman medioevo exceptionally well preserved and for your significate as center of uninterrupted power durning centuries and centuries of British and European history.

Sorry students. In your picture you can see the London Bridge, not the London Tower. Fortunatelly, I've enclosed a picture of the London Tower (the Fortress)
